Although Freemasonry in Fort Kent dates back to the mid 1800's, organized Freemasonry in Fort Kent did not take place until the turn of the twentieth century. In 1902 a Mr. Emery of Caribou, Miane and a commissioner of Aroostook County was in town on business and met with Edgar T. Flint, M.D. of Fort Kent. As the two men talked at the Dickie Hotel they realized each were Masons and discussed the notion of starting a Masonic Lodge in Fort Kent. After further investigation it became apparent that there were several residents of Fort Kent that were Masons belonging to lodges throughout Aroostook County.

After two years of talk and preparation Fort Kent Masonic Lodge was established and held its first meeting on March 31, 1904. Since this first meeting, Fort Kent Masonic Lodge has been an active community organization; meeting monthly for the past one hundred and seven years. Fort Kent Masons have met over this time at the Cunliffe Block Building at 92 West Main Street.

Most recently Fort Kent Masonic Lodge has relocated from its original building to a new building located at 415 West Main Street.

Our simple goal is to make good men better!
